After the last second heroics of the 2017 NARCh East Coast Finals 30+ Championships last year, 2018 was not to be outdone. The Monarchs swept the weekend’s round robin going 4-0 advancing to the gold medal game vs. Florida Mayhem as the first seed. It would be a rematch of the top two seeds from earlier in the weekend. Like in the first game, the Monarchs controlled the pace of play and possessed the puck for the high majority of the game…only to get down 1-0 to the Mayhem. In Monarchs fashion they battled back to tie with a goal by Jack Phelan to force overtime. There was never any panic or quit in the team. Not long into overtime, Sonny Ciocco took a shot from the point that made the Monarchs victorious by a score of 2-1. Capturing the championship solidified a 5-0 record on the tournament, and the long road to back-to-back titles. Filindo Colace earned his second consecutive East Coast Finals Top Goalie designation for the 30+ bracket.
